Carbon Busters Take Centre Stage

Carbon Busters Take Centre Stage

At our recent leadership conference, we announced that Kew Green Hotels have committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2040 at the latest.

Over the past few months, our Sustainability Committee, aka the Kew Green Carbon Busters, which represents all areas of our business, will be working hard to ensure that as a company we are doing everything we can to make a difference.

Our Climate Contract ensures that we are on the path to Net Zero by 2040 at the latest, 10 years earlier than the target under the Paris Accord. To accelerate the process, we are setting an ambitious target to reduce Kew Green’s footprint by 10% in 2022 - these targets will continue in future years to get to Net Zero as early as possible.

To help guide us on our sustainability journey, we are becoming Planet Mark certified to measure and reduce our carbon footprint. Recognised internationally as a sustainability certification, Planet Mark will identify continuous improvement, encourage action and build an empowered community of like-minded individuals who all have the same goal: to make a world of difference. This is a key step in this crucial Decade of Action to tackle the climate crisis.

To help us along our journey, we will be partnering with Rewards Earth to plant one tree in the UK for every Kew Green Hotels employee to help combat climate change. The Green Task Force will plant these trees in the UK, and we have made an annual commitment to plant more trees for new employees at different sites throughout the UK.

We are also joining The Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, the first white-label operator in the UK to do so. The Sustainable Hospitality Alliance is a gathering of brands to give a voice and to champion socially conscious causes.

It’s our responsibility as responsible global citizens to take action now and we hope you will join us in working towards a brighter future.

We have pledged to become Carbon Neutral by 2040 – 10 years ahead of the Paris Accord Target
